UXC Oxygen invests further in user experience expertiseBy David Simpson, Practice Manager Emerging Solutions on
The announcement that SAP has included the FIORI productivity application as part of the standard SAP licence is expected to increase demand as the new UX and mobility flavour can be added for existing SAP users at a relatively low cost.
Over the last six months the majority of Oxygen, a DXC Technologies Company’s UX projects have been focused on expanding the reach of the SAP system to users in the field, and replacing paper-based and manual processes. These projects have involved extending the SAP UI5 framework to include offline functionality and providing access to device functionality including cameras, QR scanners and GPS.
Some examples include:
- A mobile field force inspection application that allows a mining machinery manufacturer to inspect machinery in the field and pre-order parts and activities before the machinery comes in for service, greatly reducing down-time.
- A hybrid consumer application that enables end customers to scan their printers and copiers, update information and order consumables and services from their smartphone straight into SAP.
- A mobile asset management solution that allows offline access for field force workers to create and update notifications and service orders.
