DB Breweries receives Excellence Award for SAP e-commerce solution implementation
New Zealand-based brewer DB Breweries (DB) was recognised as a leading IT innovator receiving an SAP Customer Award of Excellence for its use of an online application that helped improve customer service, sales and marketing.
DB Breweries Sales Director, Dan Gilbert says he is delighted that DB has been celebrated for its commitment to business efficiency, innovation and quest to find the best customer channel solutions.
“In the last 18 months we have partnered with Oxygen, a DXC Technologies Company, our SAP systems integrator, to roll out an ambitious programme of change, underpinned by leading IT technologies to optimise sales activity and customer service effectiveness. The key plank in this programme was the establishment of www.mydb.co.nz our new online web shop.”
The web shop was designed, built and deployed by Oxygen, a DXC Technologies Company with input from Union Digital and was the first of its kind in Asia Pacific to use SAP’s latest web channel experience management (WCEM) software.
DB’s IS Manager, Mike Rawson, says the web shop has helped DB better service customers by providing them with a more direct and consistent means of engagement with the iconic brewer.
“Using the web shop, customers are now able to order from us at any time of the day or night – not just during business hours. All our DB beer and cider products, as well as associated merchandise, such as glasses, coasters and other branded items – are now available for ordering online at any time that suits the customer.”
Selecting SAP’s latest web technology was a bold step for DB, says Rawson, as it was untested in the local market. “We partnered extremely well with Oxygen, a DXC Technologies Company to bring the project in on time and on budget. We had undertaken a proof of concept at the start to ensure we mitigated any potential issues.”
DB Breweries received the award at a celebratory lunch at the Sydney Opera House last week. The SAP Customer Awards of Excellence are open to organisations across New Zealand and Australia and celebrate the best use of SAP technology. The judging panel looks for projects that facilitate customer success, accountability, innovation, professionalism and teamwork, and best showcase the ability of an organisation to run better as a result of people using SAP solutions.
Oxygen, a DXC Technologies Company CEO, Stuart Dickinson, says the award shows what can be achieved when a willing customer and experienced SAP integrator partner on a project.
“This is a great result for DB. The solution provides a rich web experience for users and makes e-commerce easier to manage for both the vendor and the customer. The project leveraged DB’s existing investment in SAP into a new area of customer relationship management functionality, which is already providing a solid return on investment.”
The award was one of five that Oxygen, a DXC Technologies Company won in conjunction with customers at this year’s SAP Customer Awards of Excellence.
