Oxygen, A DXC Technology Company Delivers Complex SAP HANA Migration Project for Australian Electricity Distributor
Sydney, Australia, 18 May 2016–CSC (NYSE: CSC) - Australian electricity distributor, SA Power Networks, has gone live on a new SAP HANA platform implemented by Oxygen, A DXC Technology Company
The project calls for Oxygen to transition the power distributor’s SAP ERP[AR1] and Business Warehouse (BW) platforms onto SAP HANA, migrate its SAP portal and ERP/BW servers to a Windows[AR2] platform, and move new hardware to an enhanced disaster recovery environment.
“We trusted Oxygen with this extremely complex project and they didn’t let us down,” says Chris Ford, CIO, SA Power Networks. “We are one of the first companies in Australia to undertake a migration of this magnitude, and thanks to a great team effort in the face of some challenging last-minute obstacles, it was delivered to plan.”
Ford says the go-live was the conclusion of a significant investment by SA Power Networks to future-proof its SAP operating system.
“Our ERP and BW systems had been in place for a number of years and needed overhauling. The move to SAP HANA provides us with a database and reporting system that helps us meet regulatory reporting requirements, and enables end users to perform real-time analysis on live data,” added Ford.
Oxygen, who won the project through a competitive tender, conducted a trial migration of ERP and BW to SAP HANA as part of the project’s detailed design phase.
“The trial was instrumental in devising our migration approach, hardware requirements and landscape architecture for the new installation,” said Ford.
Oxygen’s engagement with SA Power Networks included coordinating the activities of several third party hardware, software and consulting services providers.
Seelan Nayagam, managing director, for CSC in Australia & New Zealand said, “The team’s successful management of this technically complex project confirms Oxygen as one of Australia’s leading system integrators in the design and delivery of SAP HANA required dedication and professionalism.”
“The recent addition of Oxygen to the CSC family substantially strengthens our SAP capabilities and advances our aim to be the leading IT services company in the ANZ region,” added Nayagam.
